Johnny & Stacey Grimes

Johnny is the son of John & Susie and him and his wife Stacey, are carrying along the Grimes Ranches Legacy. Johnny, Stacey, and their two sons, Hunter & Walker currently live in Kerrville, TX and play a big role in the family oriented operations of Grimes Ranch. Johnny Grimes, owner of Grimes Funeral Chapels, is a dedicated professional with a deep passion for the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Johnny grew up immersed in rodeo culture, which instilled in him a love for adventure and nature. Alongside his wife, Stacey Grimes, who also hails from a rodeo background, Johnny along with Stacey, runs the family ranch with exceptional hospitality. Stacey shares his enthusiasm for ranch life and ensures that every guest has a memorable experience. Together, they blend their expertise and warmth to create a welcoming atmosphere both in their professional and personal lives.
Susie Grimes
Ranch Owner
In 1980, Grimes Ranches was established by John & Susie Grimes at their home ranch in Kerrville, TX. Since then, Grimes Ranches has expanded to Rocksprings, TX as well. Susie is the matriarch of the Grimes family and is hands on in the family businesses. Susie has four grandsons and is their biggest supporter in each endeavor they take on. John’s memory lives on throughout the Grimes family where he is remembered lovingly for starting a successful, family based legacy.
Kait
Ranch Manager
Kait has been with Grimes Ranch for 4 years as the ranch manager. She has enjoyed the outdoors for her entire life. She has been hunting along side her family since she was young and decided to make a career out of her passion. Her favorite species to hunt is Axis, and enjoys seeing guests at Grimes Ranch experience their dream hunts. With a degree in Animal Science, she uses her expertise to oversee ranch operations, animal management, and coordinate hunts.
Preston
Guide
Preston has had a love for hunting since he was a young boy hunting whitetail along side his Dad. His love for hunting grew as he grew older into hog hunting, dove hunting, and exotic species. Preston’s favorite species to hunt is Scimitar Oryx because of the skill it takes to spot and stalk. He also finds it fascinating that Scimitar Oryx were almost extinct in the wild, and Texas ranches have been mostly responsible for bringing the threatened species back and providing conservation efforts for them. Preston has been guiding at Grimes Ranch since 2020, but has many years of guiding experience. Preston’s favorite thing about guiding is making guest’s hunting dreams a reality.
Lance
Guide
Lance grew-up on the Texas Coast and has spent his entire life in the outdoors pursuing every species of fish, waterfowl and big game that our great state offers. He has guided on several exotic and whitetail ranches over the years as well as being one of the lead-guides on a large private waterfowl lease along the Texas coast for over a decade. He has been guiding at the Rocksprings Grimes Ranch since 2020 and not only goes above and beyond to ensure that his hunters are successful in bagging their trophy animals and have a great time while doing so but also strives to educate them as to the habits and traits of the different game animals on the ranch to ensure that they take more than just their trophy and great memories home at the end
of the day.
Hunter
Guide
Hunter recently graduated from the University of Arkansas while playing baseball for the Razorbacks. Hunter was born and raised on a ranch, and has hunted his whole life. He grew up hunting along side his Dad and brother ranging from shooting squirrels out of trees, to going on trophy hunts. He has always had a passion for helping other hunters experience the joy and excitement of fulfilling their dream hunt, and loves to help out with whatever needs to be done to achieve that. He loves being at the ranch, and finds peace in being in the outdoors.
Walker
Guide
Walker is currently a senior at Texas A&M University. He was born and raised in Kerrville, TX on a hunting ranch and has always had a passion for the outdoors. His favorite trophy hunt he has been on was harvesting his dream Aoudad. Walker’s favorite things about guiding is to entertain the guests and help them experience shooting an animal.
Garrett
Guide
Garrett started hunting when he was young with his Dad, family, and friends. He grew up hunting mule deer in West Texas, and whitetail and exotics in the Texas Hill Country. Garrett has been guiding and cooking at Grimes Ranch since 2022. His most recent hunt was harvesting his first trophy Axis buck on his Family’s ranch in the Hill Country. Guests say Garrett is a wonderful chef, and a great guide to hangout with on their hunt. Garrett’s favorite thing about guiding is entertaining guests, meeting new people, and spending time at the ranch.
